The annual Spring Fling Horseshoe Tournament took place on the weekend of May 22 and 23 at the New Castle Horseshoe courts in Scotland Meadows Park. Rick Cale captured the mens title going an undefeated 8-0 and a percentage of 80.94. Steve Morris topped the junior class winning 7 and losing none with an average of 78.92. Betty Lapping took the womens class with a 5-2 record and an average of 31.69. Ken Boyles won the elders division with a 7-0 record and an average of 50.63. Congratulations to all the winners! The tournament drew a total of 62 entries. 53 men, 3 juniors, 3 elders, and 3 women. The next tournament for the NCHC will be the weekend of September 11-12 this fall. Entry fee is $15. Deadline – September 1.

If you haven’t been to the New Castle horseshoe courts in a while, something new has been added. The club recently built a restroom facility 10 feet away from the courts. You no longer have to walk a mile to the restroom at the ball fields.
