Solomon Wins 1969 Spring Fling Tourney at New Castle, Pa

Jim Solomon of Uniontown, Pa, won six games and lost one to take the championship in Class A in the Spring Fling Open Horseshoe Tournament at George Washington Courts in New Castle June 7-8.

Solomon lost his one game to Sam Sutton of Elizabeth, Pa, who won second place with a 5-2 record. Harry shriver of Wadestown, WV came in third with a 5-2 record. Sutton had the higher percent 75.7 to 75.6.

Frank Kilinsky of Pittsburgh won all his games to win the Class B championship and Vince Sedlacek came in second with a record of 5-1.

Class C champion was Ed Blum of Darlington, Pa having a 6-1 record and winning the playoff with Carl Elder of New Castle who also had a 6-1 record. Ottie Reno of Lucasville, Oh placed third.

The winner in Class D was Percy Bussard of Youngstown who had a perfect day winning all his games.

Ruth Hangen of Buffalo, Ny wook the honors in the Ladies Division winning all her games without any trouble. Opal Corbett of Orlando, Fl won second place.
